What is CATASTRO

CATASTRO is the public registry of specialty coffee.

Every coffee a roaster publishes comes with a record: farm, producer, variety, process, altitude. When the coffee runs out, that record disappears. Here it stays.

Every value says where it came from and when it was read. Farms, producers and lots have a page of their own, which grows with every coffee they appear in. Over the years this tells what no single record can tell: what a farm has produced, who it has worked with, how it has changed.

Not every record gets in. To accept a coffee we need its page to say where it comes from: the country and the region or town. If the page does not publish that, the coffee does not get in yet. It is not that the record is poor: without the place there is nothing for this registry to build on.

Reading it is free. Always. For everyone. You do not need to register to read, and the data is free.
